Archie loved playing basketball.
Evie loved running races.
But they didn’t love each other. In fact, they didn’t even like each other very much!

They were always competing against each other! If Archie got the ball in the hoop, Evie would challenge him to a race. If Evie won the race, Archie would challenge her to a game of basketball. It seemed like they were always trying to outdo each other. And guess what? It made them and everyone around them miserable!

One day, their teacher, Mr. Chuckles (who had a big belly and laughed all the time), announced a fun event for the whole school. It was a three-legged race! Archie and Evie both wanted to win, but there was a twist. Mr. Chuckles decided to pair them together as a team. Uh-oh!

At first, Archie and Evie thought, "This will be easy! I can just do everything myself." But when the race started, it was a disaster. Archie went left, and Evie went right. They tripped over each other and fell into the mud. SPLAT! The crowd laughed, and even Archie and Evie couldn't help but giggle at how silly they looked.

Determined to win, they decided to try again. "Okay, Archie, let's do this together," Evie said. "Right leg, left leg, right leg," they chanted. But Archie still tried to go faster than Evie, and they tumbled into a bush. WHOOSH! More laughter from the crowd.

Finally, Archie and Evie sat down, covered in mud and leaves. "We need a new plan," Archie said. "Let's actually work together this time," Evie agreed. They practiced walking in sync, chanting, "Right leg, left leg, right leg." They started to get the hang of it!

The next day was the big race. This time, Archie and Evie moved together like a well-oiled machine. They chanted their rhythm and helped each other stay balanced. They zoomed past their classmates and crossed the finish line first! Archie and Evie couldn't believe it — they had won!

“We’re a TEAM ” they both said at the same time!

Mr. Chuckles handed them their prize, a shiny trophy, and said, "See, everything works better when we work as a team!" Archie and Evie nodded, realising that working together was not only more fun but also more successful.

From that day on, Archie and Evie became best friends. They played basketball together, ran races together, and even invented a new game called "Basketball Races" where they combined both sports. They laughed a lot, because the sports they loved were now even more fun!

And you know what? Everyone around them was so much happier as well, especially when they were all playing Basketball Races!!
