A Word From Our Coaches

When I started working with Try Time I was impressed by the passion of the team, the commitment from the coaches come rain or shine, and the determination of the business that lots of coaches are in place each week to ensure the safety of the kids and to keep the fun factor high!

It got me thinking about what motivates our coaches and what inspired them as young children in the rugby world, so this month we asked them!  Here’s the word from the pitch:

If you played rugby as a kid, what do you think were the biggest benefits of rugby on your youth?

“Learning how to work as a team with other people from an early age” Maddy

“Meeting new people” Ryan

“The biggest benefit for me was making friends whilst having fun.  I’ve now been mates with them for my whole life.”  Alex

Who were your role models as a child?  How did they positively affect you?

“When I was young my role model was probably my brother.  I got involved in the sports I probably wouldn’t have done, because I wanted to do the stuff he was doing” Maddy

“Owen Farrell and Schalk Brits.  Watching them made me want to keep playing to get better.” Ryan

“My brother and his mates.... Watching them play rugby made me want to be like them, and I got to join in with their sessions sometimes. It taught me new skills and I had loads of fun.” Alex

What are your thoughts on being a role model for the kids you coach?

“I want to make sure they have a positive view on sports, so when they grow up they have the confidence to get involved in more things.” Maddy

“I want to get more people playing sports outside” Ryan

“I love it because I could potentially be impacting a kids life and be a positive impact.  I want to try and make them be the best version of themselves, and encouraging them to be better.  Hopefully I can help them have as much fun as possible and help them in their journey through sport.” Alex

Many thanks to Maddy, Ryan and Alex for their voice and enthusiasm!  What they have said totally encapsulates the values of Try Time Kids’ Rugby, and is representative of the energy and passion of the whole team.  We just love what we do and we know you do too as you keep spreading the Try Time word - check out our new Thank You campaign – a thank you from us to our members for all your ongoing referrals!
